mPCR or marketing? Differences that matter – and regulations that require it
In this article, I analyze whether plastic film made from recycled materials can truly resemble products made from virgin resin. I explain the differences between mPCR, cPCR, PCR, and PIR, and how they affect quality, appearance, and compliance. I also discuss current EU regulations on recycling and emphasize the importance of honest communication about post-consumer recycled plastic content. This is a practical overview of plastics recycling technologies and their role in the production of polymers. (Dr. Magdalena Laabs)

Hygroscopicity and Osmosis in Plastics – Are They the Same?
Hygroscopicity vs. Osmosis in Plastics – What’s the Difference?
Not all plastics absorb moisture! Hygroscopic plastics (e.g., ABS, PA, PET) pull water into their structure, which can cause defects during processing if not dried properly. Non-hygroscopic plastics (PVC, PE) do not absorb moisture but can act as barriers against osmosis.
💡 Key differences:
✔️ Hygroscopicity – water absorption into plastic granules.
✔️ Osmosis – water passing through a material.
✔️ PVC is not hygroscopic but can reduce osmosis. -
Automation in Industry: Reality or Myth?
🌍 According to the World Economic Forum, around 85 million jobs were projected to disappear by 2025 due to automation. Now, as we evaluate these predictions, the plastics processing and recycling industry stands out for its transformation. Automation has reshaped roles, streamlining production while creating demand for new skills in programming, maintenance, and system optimization. This shift highlights both challenges and opportunities, urging industries and workers to adapt to ensure a sustainable and efficient future. Dive into our analysis of this dynamic evolution.

Art Exhibition at the PLASTPOL Trade Fair – Creativity from the Heart of Industry
At PLASTPOL 2024 in Kielce, an extraordinary exhibition brought together Targi Kielce, tworzywa sztuczne (plastics) and sztuka (art). Spanning 24x8 meters, the event presented over 100 paintings and 20 sculptures created by engineers, artists and industry experts. The show proved that artistic creativity thrives in technical fields – making room for expression, emotion and innovation at the heart of industrial spaces.
